





Cubist Values
Students learned about the "shattering" effect present in Cubist works of Pablo Picasso, then created a work in the same manner while illustrating the principle of balance from a reference of their own choosing.




Stippled Portraits
Students learned about basic facial proportions, and shaded portraits of their own creation using the stippling method.




Balloon Animal Drawings
Students learned to create balloon animals, and then drew them focusing on showing the true roundness of form with shadows, midtones, and highlights.
Animal Linocut Portrait Prints
Students learned about positive and negative space, while also focusing on depicting texture in their animal portrait prints. They practiced application of ink and printmaking process with collograph, shown as well.









Foam Prints and Monoprints
Students used foam trays and impressing techniques to create prints based on representing themselves through metaphor.Â

Leonardo da Vinci Quote Illustration
Students chose a quote from Leonardo da Vinci and were tasked with illustrating it via a linocut series.




Historical Artist Reinterpretation
Students researched and presented a famous artist and their works. After, they were tasked with reinterpreting one of the works to a contemporary level.





Holiday Still Life Drawings
Students of different classes completed summative charcoal still life drawings after learning about all the foundational methods through our introductory unit.Â
Color Theory Paintings
Students explored color theory by creating an image loosely inspired by the color wheel. Students were encouraged to use all hues, with their tints, tones, and shades present.Â
Slab Architecture
Students hand-rolled slabs and learned about additive and subtractive handbuilding techniques, as well as creating a lid complete with a flange to form a functional container of their own.








Coil-built Effigy Vessels
Students learned the coil-building technique, as well as slab and additive sculpting with clay. They were tasked at building a functional vessel which holds liquid/objects, inspired by something from nature.
White Highlight Study
Students were tasked with representing glass and organic forms using only white charcoal on black paper.




Elements of Art Zines
Students created foldout zines with a recurring image that depicts a different element of art on each page.




Packaging/Branding
Design students developed a brand identity for their "clients" in class, and were tasked with fully executing the design and function of the bottles, as well as an appropriate colorant.
Stop-motion Animation
Students grouped up and became directors, filmmakers, artists, and more for their own concept of stop-motion film.
