I am an art teacher currently based in Tampa, Florida – originally from Western Massachusetts. I have extensive training in Graphic/User Experience Design, Photography, Ceramics, and Painting (acrylic and watercolor). I have worked in a variety of school and other educational settings, and am licensed in both Massachusetts and Florida for PreK-12 in Art.
My capstone work for my Master's Degree revolved around the theme of removing a vocational focus from first-level graphic design/digital art classes, and instead teaching students to create works which express ideas and understand how to read images through the process of visual literacy. I used qualitative data analysis to form my implications based on design critiques of digital illustrations I had completed.
In my life outside of my career, you can find me vegetable gardening, cooking new recipes, and filling my camera roll with pictures of my tuxedo cat. My current passion project is a vegetarian cookbook I'm writing which involves illustrations of all my favorite recipes.
